Spanish GTI
Hello All,
First of all sorry for writing in English but I have no idea of German so this is the only way I have to ask you several things regarding the GTI.
I am going to buy a GTI here in Spain, and I need to know some things before deciding to buy it.
Here in Spain the GTI is nearly full equipe, and the final price is cool I think, around 25.600 €. It includes bixenon, light, rain and tyre pressure sensors, 6 CD changer, RCD 300+, Dual zone climatronic, mirrors retractable electrically and so on.
My doubts are:
- Which is the real width of the car with the mirrors retracted?. The official width is 176 cm, but this is with no mirrors, am I wrong?
- In Spain it is not possible to add MFA+ as an extra, and I want to know if it means a real improvement compared to the normal MFA. I am interested on it, but the only way to have it is adding the Navigator, that is really expensive. I will try to contact the Customer Care Office to see if it is possible to add it with the normal RCD 300+.
- The tyre pressure sensor warns you only when you have a puncture? . Does it indicate the instant pressure of each tyre?
- Colours: The only available colours are White, Red, Grey and Black. I am going to buy a white one, it looks great!, don't you think so?

El precio de € 25.600 esta de bastante bajo. No cabe duda: me comprare el proximo carro en espana.
Si el ancho de 1,76 incluye los espechos no se seguro pero supongo que si. Tienes que mirar en el folleto de los datos technicos en las ultimas paginas. Porque preguntas: tu garage es tan pequeno ?
El MFA+ es mas mejor que el MFA normal, hay mas informaciones y puedes elegir mas funcionas. Si el precio del coche es mas menos que en alemania me dices quantas pelas quiren para el sistema de navigation en espana ? Yo me he comprado un TomTom porque aqui piden unos 2.300,-
El sistema para las ruedas te informa cuando esta saliendo aire no solo si la rueda no tiene aire.
El color blanco me parece bien para espana porque hay mucho sol y calor. Yo prefiero el GTI en rojo o negro.

Muy bueno tú español!!, has estado en España alguna vez? Lo digo porque usas la palabra "Pelas", que es muy típico en España.
Continúo en Inglés para que el resto me entienda mejor:
- I have called the Customer Care Office and they told me that it is not possible to add MFA+ as an extra. It goes compulsory with the Navi (2.500 €)
- White is definately my choice. Black is really nice but quite dirty, and the red here in Spain is difficult to mantain, it tends to lose a lot of brightness because of the sun.
- I am considering the preparation for mobile phone, does it support Bluetooth? Does it need a dedicated SIM Card?. I have heard that this preparation includes also MFA+ and Multifunction Steering Wheel, is this true?
Ahhhhh ich dachte das ist ein deutschsprachiges Forum...

VW doesnt support bluetooth for the Golf; I would not recomend the mobile phone preparation as it only works with certain phones. There are better alternatives on the market...
In Germany MFA+ and multifunctional steering wheel are separate items and not included in the mobile phone preparation.

I think it will be impossible for me to have the MFA+ installed, VW Spain doesn't offer it as an extra and if it does not appear in the option list you can not ask for it.
It is a real pity, I consider this is an useful thing as it is cheap and improves a lot the appearance of the interior.
I will buy it today, and the waiting time is estimated to be around 3 months..... so I will have to be patient.

Regarding Bluetooth:
I've always thought it was pretty weird that people first tried to get rid of the emissions inside the car caused by a mobile phone by adding external antennas. But a few years later, everyone will happily install a device which also floods your car's interior with strong electromagnetic emissions (bluetooth) just for convenience.
That, and the fact that BT will quickly drain your mobile's battery have kept me personally from considering BT for my car. Right now I have a classic "hands-free"-installation from Siemens and I'm pretty happy with it.
Considering what you have to pay to order a phone installation from VW directly (and that you usually have to get the right parts to make it compatible with your specific mobile model), I'd always choose to order nothing from VW and have a hands-free solution fitted by a local radio-/hifi-dealer or shop. Cost is about the same, and the result was very good for me in my last two cars.

The estimated arrival date is 10 of October, but this was my idea..... to have a new car after the summer.
Can anybody tell me the real width of the car with both mirrors retracted??. This is important for me because the access to my garage is a sort of "tunnel" of approximately 2m width and I am not sure that 1.759 is the real width of the car. My father has a Golf IV GTI and the left mirror must be compulsory retracted to enter the garage, but Golf V GTI is wider.

Maybe in spain VW offers an other system, but in Germay you cannot get a real pressure measuing system forthe Golf. The sold system (around 50 EUR) measures only the distance, which is covered by each wheel (using the ABS sensors). If there is a difference between the wheels, the software assumes that you have a problem with your tires. So in fact it is not really useful.
For the new Passat VW offers both systems : the softwaresolution and the sensors in the wheel (around 300 EUR).

The 1,759m is not the real width of the car...
The real width amounts to 2,03m (inkl. the mirrors)
With the retracted mirrors the width will be about 1,90m

Was ist denn das schon wieder für eine unqualifizierte Aussage ?!?!?!
Stell dir vor es gibt auch Menschen die kein Deutsch sprechen und trotzdem einen Golf V fahren und es vielleicht dort kein Forum gibt...

Hallo,
sicher dies ist ein deutsches Forum, aber ich denke mal, da spricht auch nichts dagegen, wenn man der eine oder andere Thread in einer anderen Sprache geschrieben wird! Sind ja kaum solche Threads vorhanden! Ausserdem freu dich lieber, dass auch anderen hier im Forum geholfen wird!
