A250e after 4 month and 8000km, list of annoying things in the car
Hello all,
I dont speak German so I will write in English. Sorry for this inconvenience but I do hope that you will have use of what I write here about my A250e after 4 month and 8000km driving it.
So my post will be mostly based on bad things because if you watch any car review you will not hear this things ever and that is what really drive me mad here.
Let me start with saying that I am satisfied with a car and I would recommended it to my friend but I would never buy this car again, if that makes sense.
Also, just to give idea about my previous experience, this is mine 7 car and last two were Mercedes C class so I have good experience with Mercedes cars.
Here is the list of things that's annoys me most, feel free to comment do you have same impression or maybe you notice something else.
1. Front wheel drive just can not handle all the car torque. Even on dry surface it is truly struggling and you can expect lots of ESP/ASR intervention. If you turn it off, you will have wheel spin in first 4 gears. On even slightly wet surface, forget about any aggressive acceleration from a start. (Snow is coming, I see lots of issue even before it get frozen)
2. Car should be over 210ks, but because of issue 1, it doesnt not feel like that at all. I would say it feels like 150ks car. Only at high speed acceleration you notice it has potential.
3. Driving in electric mode, and you need instant accelerating (changing lane, overtaking some extremely slow vehicle) you do kick down and until petrol engine engage you are already done with maneuver and only then you hear engine started when it no longer needed.
4. When petrol engine (weakest/worst link/part in the car) start, during electric drive, it start with 3000RPM and make a lot of noise.
5. Petrol engine (weakest/worst link/part in the car) when need full power, make too much noise with no real effect. It is screaming like crazy but accelerate slow.
6. Petrol tank is ridiculously small. You can expect between 400 and 500km max range. So every travel above 1000km is kinda non stop fuel station visits.
7. Gearbox can be jerky when you drive with both engine on.
8. Burmester sound system just dont sound anything special. I had it in my previous C class and it was amazing, this one, is just OK, nothing else. Not sure is it worth extra money. Also when you turn it a bit louder, plastic in car start to squeeze with sound of bass (poor build quality?)
9. Rain sensor is just too slow. So when it is raining, I need manually to choose speed because sensor is to slow and so for dangerous to drive with it.
10. Battery realistically in summer can go between 45 and 50km, on cold days (still not under 0 Celsius) it is seriously degraded, 25km to 30km most. I am afraid when it goes bellow 0 outside, that it will be more like 20km.
11. Because of issue number 9, you can easily calculate how much it cost to drive and compare to other petrol/diesel engine. So in summer you need 7e for 100km. In winter it is like 10e for 100km. I use cheapest price of KW (0.28c)
12. There is no fix button to change station or song you listening. You can adopt cockpit and use pad on steering wheel but that is just non sense because you need to use one of 3 screen for something you just occasionally change and most of the time you want to change it fast.
13. Warning system in the car are way too sensitive. I turned off Early warning sound, still, it is beeping all the time as warning to objects which are far away (during U turn for example).
14. I got 2 times urgent car braking when going backwards because car "detected" something and just fully stop car like crazy. Nothing was behind car, false alarm
15. Adaptive cruise control can be dangerous, for example if car in front of you change lane, it happens few times that system didnt detect next car in lane and start to accelerate rapidly into new car in front. Like computer monitor just one car, and if that car change lane it stayed focus on it too long and ignore new car in front.
16. Slowing down in city drive with adaptive cruise control, can be something realy harsh for no reason. It just start braking too late and then it break too hard and unpleasant.
17. Mercedes portal for configuring new car is very bad. I was sure I choose all driving aid but when I get car, there was no Change line assistant, just Change line warning. Also part about charging cables are awful
18. Mercedes me charging card are ridiculously expensive, even 3 time more expensive then ADAC one. Yes, 300% more expensive and I dont know why, you dont get anything different of special with it.
I now it sound like lots of complaint but as I said again, I am satisfied with a car.
Feel free to comment and say you opinion, am I just crazy or looking for a needle in haystack.
Unfortunately no one from Mercedes will read this because I do think this could help them.

Moin,
Schlechte Traktion, ruppiges Bremsverhalten, lahme Reaktion Kickdown/Verbrennereinsatz.
