USB Music Audio Distortion
By USB music playback via the Mercedes Media player in soft music (classical or slow songs) I hear clipping sounds.
The clipping sounds are only present when the Mercedes software is playing the music, and not present when my phone or ipod is playing the music via USB or Bluetooth.
Google Translate:

I have the same issue, very annoying.
Most of my MP3 files are encoded @320kbps.
Tried different media, issue remains, probably a (simple) software bug.
Hopefully somebody at MBUX team is reading this or can we submit a bug somewhere?

Did you listen to the same files on your PC/on a different device? If so, does the distortion happen there as well or only with MBUX?
Hi fydt,
Yes, I played the files on my PC and they are okay, I also played them via my phone through the Bluetooth and USB of the MBUX system and they were okay. It was only a problem when I played them via USB using the MBUX Media Player.
I cannot hear the distortion with Rock or Loud music. It can only be heard on soft music, such as Silent Night or other slow Christmas songs. The best way to describe the sound is that it sounds like the music is being played from an old LP player with dust under the needle.

Thanks for your feedback. It may sound stupid, but did you try a different USB stick?
In addition to that, are you using a USB type C or A? If you are using type A, did you maybe try switching out the adapter you are using?
There are many possibilities for that issue, I'd suggest going through the easy fixes (changing the USB stick / adapter) before consulting a dealership with your problem, though.
Yes, I tried different USB sticks and different adapters. You're right though, it could be many issues since adapters need to be used. But since it doesn't happen via Bluetooth or USB using my phone or ipod as the player, I think it's 1) a software issue or 2) the type of bitrate of the files or the Mercedes has issues playing certain files recorded at certain bitrates. Maybe a software update will fix this eventually, but the problem is not serious. I can easily avoid it using the IPOD to play music or not listen to soft music lol
It's interesting that others have not experiences this.
Thanks!

I hope so too, MvdW33! I have an appointment on the 9th of Jan. I hope they have a software update. I think more people have this issue, but since it's not always constant and louder music "hides" it, not as many have noticed it yet. I think. I'll let you know if they update the software. Also, the music I notice it the most is at 229kbps, so that ends that idea.
The bad news I think for others is that while it is not so noticeable at first, once you do notice it, it becomes impossible not to notice it anymore. 🙁
