Golf mk6 1.6TDI DSG, DQ200 issue fixed, however the pressure lost speed is fast? or normal?

Hello everyone, sorry I don't speark German, however I am VW German car fans.

Thanks here to resolve my passat B6, common fault issue for hex engine oil pump in the last year.

I own the golf mk6 for 10 years and 150k miles mileage now as well.

The car was facing the DQ200 design defect in mechatronic unit (J743), which is accumulator.

refer here: https://www.eco-torque.co.uk/post/vw-dsg-7-speed-dsg-gearbox-problems

I bought the DSG repair kit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBNtHqSCzsc, a new adaptor and new accumulator to fix.

After installation, I use VCDS cable to monitor the status of pump and pressure in the new accumulator.

I got the data: The setting is lower limit is 42bar and maximum is 60bar, when the pressure drop to 42 bar, the pump will start to run for 1 second, and the pressure will go to 60bar immediaterly, the pump then stop. The pressure will drop from 60bar to 42bar in only 12 seconds.

the ratio of pump working time vs. stop time = 1:10 roughly.

I can also the total pump working time is 750 hours. If we assume the average speed 30mph, the total engine running time is 150,000/30=5000 hours. the ratio of pump working time vs. stop time = 750 : ( 5000 - 750 ) = 1:5.6 roughly.

So do you think the pressure drop speed is normal or not? I just worried about, the pressure increase very fast (in 1 second) and drop to 42bar in 12 seconds. Is there any leaking inside? or the accumulator is not working at all?

Thank you in advance.

soll mindestens 80 Sekunden betragen.

Kann das jemand ins Englische übersetzen?

Thank you for your reply. I use the google translation, I get your meaning.

the stop time of pump should be at least 80 seconds each time.

It looks like the accumulator leaking for long time, because the total pump working time is 750 hours. The total engine running time is roughly 5000 hours. Seems the pump running too long time in recent years.

Maybe the other possible reason, if the entrance of accumulator is blocked, the oil only fill up in the pipe each time, due to the volume of pipe is significant less than accumulator volume. The pressure will be drop fast, meanwhile the pressure increase will be fast as well. right?

Thank you so much for your help.

It is a long story, when I try to diagnose and DIY fix.

I found the leaking at the very first time, but the DSG still working, no fault code. I stop the car immediately. We know the hydraulic oil is 1L inside, DSG looks like leaked 0.5L, remain 0.5L inside. so it is still working.

The key symptom is hydraulic oil came out from top breather. BTW, I come from China, live in UK.

I found a very similar video https://www.bilibili.com/.../BV1Nf4y1U7wC?... at 02:12, the spumes oil appeared close to the top breather.

So I assume that it is a common fault which is cast aluminium thread is too thin, invisible crack, especial for old car.

VW recall the DQ200 in China and Australia, but except UK.

Additional, my friend has dq200 with 30,000km mileage only. He use the VCDS to check the status. His car 60bar drop to 42bar also only in around 15 seconds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5Thfu7KuM0&feature=youtu.be

So I don't know the original VW OEM testing data regarding the pressure holding time. or it is also a common fault. my car pump has running for 750 hours in the past 10 years.....very interesting fault.

Hallo @han95

Hallo @WQ33

Thank you for your explanation.

However I have a little confused. You metion the 'stroke' and 'gas bubble'.

What structure is inside of accumulator? Is it a spring piston or gas bubble or just a empty metal container to store pressed hydraulic oil? Maybe I could understand you more clearly once I know the basic of structure of inside.

I guess that the reason of german engineer desige an accumulator here, the pressed flow of pump is limited. The small gear pump cannot provide the plenty amount of pressed fluid in short time, once the unit operation. So they set an accumulator to store amount 0.2L of pressed hydraulic oil.

If the micro leaking on this part, the pump will continue running, try to achieve minimum pressure 42bar.

If the big leaking, the pump will never press to the 42 bar, will be a fault error code.

if the accumulator totally blocked. That means the pump can only press oil in the relatived pipe. The volume of pipe is limited, so the symptom will be pressure increased very fast in one second (because the volume of pipe is smaller), the pressure will lost very fast as well, because no accumulator provide the 0.2L 60bar oil, only depend on the small amount in the pipe.

Is my understanding right?

Thank you again for your discussion.

Hallo @han95

Hallo @WQ33

Thank you for your help.

I believe that you are right. The accumulator may not work at all.

The pump only pump oil in the pipe. That is the reason why the increased pressure in very short time (1 second) and then drop on in 19 seconds.

However as the accumulator has been installed. It will cost more time and money to re-install or replace again. I have to use the car grudgingly.

The pump frequently start 1 second in every 20 seconds. That means if I drive 2 hours per working day. That means each year, the pump will work 240days * 2 hours * (1/20) = 24 hours each year.

Compare the pump has worked for 750 hours totally in the past 10 years. It looks like acceptable.

Letzter Versuch:

Der Druckspeicher ist anscheinend eine Blackbox.

Keiner weiß wie's drinnen aussieht? :(
