1.4 tsi oder 1.8 tsi M6

Could you please help me to decide between these 2 engines?
I have decided to take manual transmission (it is cheaper, there are many positive reviews of it, zb honestjohn, carbuyer etc.), though I have not tested it on Superb 3, but have tested it on passat b8 and I liked it a lot (i think it should feel similar on Superb 3).
I have probefart both, but they were both with dsg (so 1.8 should feel even faster with manual due to 320 Nm vs 250 Nm Drehmoment). They both felt pretty fast at city and back roads and enough for me, but at high speeds (>160kmh) 1.8 felt much better, and 1.4 seemed really to put too much effort to maintain 180 speed. Though I would rarely need that much speed, since In my country the official speed limit is 130 kmh.
5 days a week I use car to get to work in the city (around 15 km in heavy traffic), on weekends around 200 km in the city light traffic and suburban cities with around 50 km destanation and each 3 weeks I go by autobahn to another city with around 700 return trip. With new car I would also plan 1 or 2 long Europe trips around 2500 km each year, probably including German autobans.
So my question is, in real word do 1.4 tsi engine gives enough fuel economy to cover the difference in performance? The difference in price is 1000 Eur. Maybe there are some other considerations, like maintenance expences, relibility?
I am asking this, because 1.4 tsi seems to be more popular in VW group. It has won some engine awards. More cars seemed to be equipped with it (sharan has 1.4 and 2.0, but no 1.8, the sme with the new A4). 1.8 in Superb 3 is not offered in some markets (like UK). autodata gives 1 liter difference in urban fuel consumption, but less than 1 second in acceleration. But the difference between 1.8 and 2.0 in fuel consumption is like 0.3 liter, given the same 1 second difference in acseleration.
So maybe 1.4 is just a better engine?

Hy Alex did you consider the 1.6 tdi?
When reading i feel as that could be the best engine for you, as you have enough longrun cycles. It is at least as economical as the 1.4 and at 130 i feel it being more economical than the 1.4.
However:
Fuel economy from the 1.4tsi is getting worse the faster you go... If you travel around 70-90 kph it will be the more economical, if you go faster i see differences to the 1.8 geting smaller.

Regarding diesels I am a bit concerned regarding their suitability for short journeys (though indeed i drive longer distances sometimes to avoid dpf issues), higher costs, vibration and slower acseleration of 1.6, though i have not tried it (2.0 was really good, but costs much more than similar 1.4).
So i am choosing between 1.4 and 1.8. Regarding 1.4 i wonder if it will offer enough economy advantage in real world for the lower performamce and regarding 1.8 - vice versa and additionally I am concerned regarding previous oil consumption issues, Chain vs Belt issues and the fact it is not so common among VW group models as 1.4 - maybe VW group itself considers it a "better" engine :)

For me the question was; 190ps diesel or 280 ps petrol. I was sure it will be the diesel...... Then after the drive i ordered the petrol...
Now having a chain instead of the favorised timing belt..... Having a nefz of 7.8 instead of 5.2...
My realworld consumtion was similar with both..... So try them..

Habe ich das jetzt richtig verstanden? Realer Verbrauch mit dem 2,0 TSI 280 Ps sind bei Dir 7,8 l/100 km?
Unter welchen Bedingungen?
Schleichen/Spritsparfetischist, Normalfahrer mit Kostenbewusstsein, zügig unterwegs oder aggresiver Raser?

Bei ähnlichem Fahrverhalten vermute ich im 2,0 TSI einen höheren Verbrauch zu haben bei gleichzeitig ungleichmäßigerer Leistungsentfaltung, schlechterem Sound und anfälligerem Motor.
Ich habe bisher nur eine Angabe bei Spritmonitor für diesen Motor gefunden, die mir plausibel erscheint. Ist von User Lost82 und weist derzeit 11,18 l/100 km aus.

Nein nicht ganz, laut NEFZ hat der 7.8, das wäre in Real zu schön um wahr zu sein!
War auf der Testfahrt Bergig/kurvig und etwas Stadt.
Der Diesel hatte 8.6 der Benziner 9 laut MFA. Der Diesel war kalt und musste 2 Traktoren überholen. Der Benziner hatte ein par grad..
Ansonsten normale / zügige Fahrt..
Für dich zum Vergleich:
Mit dem Mini hab ich einen schnitt von 7.2 werk liegt bei 6.2.. Und doch wird der ab und zu getreten.
Von daher müssten die 9 auch hinkommen...
Nun ich rechne mal mit 9.5 Litern auf 100km, meinen sollte ich im März bekommen, dann kann ich dir auch gerne mehr sagen.

Es werden ja nun immermehr Leute in den Genuss des neuen Superbs kommen und einige auch den mit 280 PS geordert haben. Ich bin mal gespannt, was da für Werte erfahren werden.

Spiele mit den gedanken den neuen Superb Combi mit dem 1.8tsi 180ps motor als handschalter zu kaufen.
Nun die frage: Reicht diese motorisierung aus für dieses Schiff? Habe praktisch fast keine erfahrung mit Benziner da bis jetzt immer diesel...
Das fahrzeug soll als Familienwagen zum einsatz kommen (ausflüge in die bergen, ferien, aber auch viel kurzstrecken...ca 10'000km pro jahr)
Und wie siehts aus mit der Steuerkette? Man hört ja nicht immer positives davon...ist das noch ein problem?

Bin den 150PS Diesel gefahren, und auch wenn ich hier Äpfel mit Birnen vergleiche: Das hat gereicht. Mehr geht natürlich immer, aber absolut nötig ist es nicht. Für seime Größe ist der Superb auch mit ca. 1500kg relativ leicht.
Ok...wobei der diesel hat natürlich auch mehr drehmoment! Ich fahre zur zeit auch einen audi a4 avant 2.0tdi mit 170ps, der hat ordentlich power. Wobei der a4 ist auch ein ganzes stück kleiner als der superb combi.
Na ja der Handschalter Benziner hat laut Tabelle 20Nm weniger als der 150PS Diesel, und die Übersetzung des Getriebes spielt auch noch eine Rolle. Wenn du kein Rennfahrer bist, sollte das locker reichen.
Rennfahrer nicht, aber der motor sollte trotzdem auch noch einen gewissen spassfaktor bieten...
