Hallo Shirkan and the others.

Today i have build in the CAW-OP736 in the Vectra-C with the radio KDC-PSW9524.

- Steeringwheelbuttons (lenkradbedienung) OK !!
- Radio On -> Date gone (datum weg)
- No information on de display

My CDR-2005 isn't removed with a Tech-2 out of the computer (CDR-2005 nicht abgemelded)

So i have te same problem as you, grrrrrrr !!!

I've have send Kenwood Netherlands a email message, because this afternoon they said it was going to work !

What did you do with the green/yellow wire ???
I left it NOT connected.

They say that this is for older radio's and that it should be connected to remote out of the radio.

I let you know is i hear something....

By the way:

I cannot change the menusetting "External display switching"

Hi Manta79

I have exacltly the same Problem like you.
When i put on the radio, the Clock and Date disappear in the Display, but there is nothing else. The upper "field" stays empty. My steeringwheelbuttons are ok, but the display doesn't work.

The yellow-gree cable is an outgoing cable from the adapter and i haven't conneceted, too, because my Radio hasn't have a plug, or smth else, where i could connect it.
When it should be remote, it wouldn't make any sense. Power and switched Power the adapter gets from the middle Isoplug, so it doesn't need remote?! And why should it be at the outgoing site of the adapter?

The Userpoint "OEM-Display" of my Radio isn't useable, too, like yours. Maybe my radio is too old for the asapter? But on the Kenwood Internetsite it is shown for Opel-Display and should work with this adapter.... I don't know what it could be...

I'll go to the Kenwood-store here in the neighbourhood, when i will get back from holiday (2 weeks). Today 2 weeks Dubai are waiting 🙂)

I'll post, whats going on, when i'm back!

cu!

Maybe we just have to measure the yellow-green cable.
Is it an output or a input ?, it is just how you look at it....

So i have not heard a thing from Kenwood..and when they do, your the
first to know. And i think the shop can't tell a thing either. But i can
try...

Have a nice holiday !

Hello Shirkan & Manta79,

Iirc the data transfer is done via I²C-Bus, but its possible that the display gets "high" or "low" on one input when the radio starts playing. Then it clears the date and time display and waits for text to be displayed. You could check this via watching the in- and outputs of the original CDR2005 (or the inputs of the display). In 90s Opel models this line was gray-red and cutting it made the display show time and date all the time.

I don´t think the display needs a reprogramming, except you ordered your Vectra without radio. If you only exchanged the 2005 without any Tech2 usage then it should function normally. I can´t explain why the Tech2 should disable the display, because without radio there won´t be problems (no data transfer -> no text on display -> date and time).

If the Kenwood adapter doesn´t send RDS data to the I²C Bus it may be broken or wrong connected. Maybe Kenwood support helps.

Hello Shirkan and the others,

Today i recieved a email form Kenwood Netherlands.
It has taken a while but the answer seems fair enough, but dissapointing :-(

The CAW-OP736 works with all steeringwheels of any Vectra-C

There are three type of diplays in the Vectra-C

1. A Display that matches the old displays (somewhat like the Vectra-B displays).
This display has NOT been used in Dutch (and German ?) Vectra-C's and only in England ?
this is the only display that will Work with CAW-OP736 !

2. A orange display that also has information about the climatcontrol (the one i have), this is under contruction and it depends on a lot of factors before it will work. I have heard that it has something to do with the protocol used by Opel.

3. The Coloured Navigation Display, does NOT work with the CAW-OP736, also under contruction (see display 2) ?....

The green/Yellow is only for carradios that only have steeringwheel control INPUT (no display outputs)

Greetings

Richard

Hello Manta,

point 1 can´t be true for GIDs, but the TIDs are the same as in the Vectra B. So it seems this adapter is useless for you.

Hi...

Every 30.000km new Oil in your Car
Every 1000km fill up your screenwasher installation

Every 1000km fill up your radio coolingsystem and radiator ???
There is nothing in the books about that !!!

hahahahahahaha

Hi Manta79

at 1st, best regards from dubai. Best weather here :-)

I only wanted to check my Emails from this hotel Terminal, but then i read, that there are news about the adapter so i wanted to know...

Hm, thats very dissaopinting, that the adapter don't work with the GID and CID of the Vectra C. I have the GID (Yellow Graphic Info Display) like you. I thought the Adapter wouldl work with that display, as the Kenwood shop told me. I think, i'll try to give the adapter back to the shop, because 69 € only for the Stearing-Wheel Remote is too much money...

Hope that the newer adapter for GID and CID will come soon...

But by the way, do you what all to do at the 20.000 km Inspection? My Vectra shows me, that it want to see an Inspection, and i want to know, what i will cost...

Cya when im back from Holiday...

Shirkan

Ps: Watercooled Radios? i think, thats SciFi... A build in Microwave Oven ore Satelite Reciever in a Corsa A is more possible 🙂

Also, mein 2005 klackert nicht. Weder beim An- noch beim Ausschalten. Dafür klackerts bei mir beim Regensensor, wenn ich über Hubbel fahre. Keine Ahnung was das ist.

Gruß Whooper

What is "klackert" ?

Making noise ("tack tack tack tack"😉.

As if the CD touches a part of the housing with every rotation.
