Tuning für den e46 325ti

Hi,

hab jetzt auch nen BMW 🙂
Bis jetzt ist alles original und ich mächte auch nicht viel drann machen bzw. es soll alles so weit es geht orig. aussehen bzw. dezent sein.

Was gibt es denn da so feines? Also die rücklichter sind als erstets drann. Hab geshen die gibts für 90€ bei eBay.

Was gibt es den für gute Auspuffanlagen oder nur endschalldämpfer je nach dem was besser für mich ist.
Ich kenn mich leider kaum aus....

So if you don't mind i'll do this in english.
For the past few days i've been really looking on how to tune my

325 ti Compact from 2001 (E46).

And i found out two webpages interresting:

This is a guy who actually installed some performance enhancements and has results to show it works.
In particular, he tried the "CAI (Cold Air Intake) from aFe" combined with the "Conforti software from a Shark Injector "

I think both of these guys know what they're talking about, but i always love second opinions.

My questions to this community are:

(1) Can you install the CAI AFe in a 325 ti Compact from 2001 ? If not, which CAI can you install ?
(2) Can you install the conforti software in the 325tti Compact of 2001 ? If not, how about the dinan software ? Which is best from all of them ?

(3) I'm very insterested in installing a lighter flywheel, as suggest in post [2]. Has anyone tried this and what is his/her experience of a lighter flywheel ?

(4) There's also talk that you can get more wheel horsepower if you hook up lighter wheels. What would be the gain in speed/accelaration of the car and which brands from rim and wheel are best ? What are the prices for 4 of them in total ?

(5) Finally, i would love to hear if anyone of you has supercharged or turbocharged their BMW 325 ti and what the total gain in Horse power is and what did it cost ? I know there are some american kits out there, who claim pretty good gains (80 HP) for about $ 5500.

note to myself: 100 kW = 134.1 HP.

Hi there,

the two links you posted sound interesting, but is it really worth the money for about 0,4s 0-60? Don't think so 😉

CAI should fit, guess the front work of coupe and compact are the same. But questions about dinan and CAI aren't well placed here, we have to obey german TUV, so there will be pretty few people who have ever tried here.

(3) lighter Flywheel is interesting, yes. but should decrease comfort in the way you increase reaction time.
Tought i read about ~600-800$

(4) shouldn't get much wheel HP, does in first line, improve driving dynamics, because of reduced unsprung weight.

(5) well, i'm wondering if i should supercharge my 325ti, would be approximately ~260HP by ~4000€.

Here's an example for the supercharger, it comes for Active Autowerke and it's claimed it gives you 90 move wheelhorsepower:

About whether the CAI and chip software is worth it. Well, the Conforti sells for about $350 , and the CAI intake is also about $400

So in total it's about $750 for the Cold Air Intake and the software. Installation can be done at home. In total it should give about 10 - 15 more HP (that's why, like 12 KW). For about EUR 500, that's not bad !

I was hoping i have some money left in my EUR 1000 budget to also install the lightweight flywheel. Yes, sure my car will react quicker to acceleration and de-acceleration, but that's the whole point !

And then there's the fuel economics question.....
But maybe the EUR 1000 is better spent on rims and wheels and make them lighter .... or i save that for a later upgrade ....

I've once wanted to install it, but they could'net tell me if it fits the 325ti, and there would be no papers for TUV, so it could get a problem over her 😉

Ich meine dass die EUR 1000 mir den software, CAI under "flywheel" sollte kaufen. Ich weiss nicht, ob dieser tuning mich mehr spass gebt, als wenn ich denn budget nur i'm banden unt "rims" verpatse. Ich meine, den rims unt bande sinnt schoen fuehr die auge, aber ich denk nicht dass es meine BMW soviel schneller macht, aber ich weiss nichts von alles dieses....

also deutlich spürbar sind dann die 1000,- nicht angelegt, wenn du dir Leichtbau Felgen holst.

Aber was noch am merklichsten sein dürfte ist das leichte "Flywheel", das andere ist eher Augenauswischerei ; )

Von 192 PS fuhr kaum 4200 nach 290 PS !!!!

wow ! Und besser, dieses KIT ist gemacht fuhr euro 325i (alle M54 motore). Ich denke diesen KIT uebersteigt AA im alles !

Ive just read about a serious negative for the ultra light flywheel. It seems that changing to a lighter flywheel (or in a 325ti, to a dual lighter flywheel), will create "chatter" when the car is running idle.

That's a showstopper for me, i don't want weird noises when i'm at low RPM's, like waiting for a traffice light.

Thats the price you have to pay for faster acceleration 😉

And it depends on how "light" the flywheel is
