Retrofit Direct TPMS System 3AA 907 273 D
Hi all,
I'm in the middle of finishing up a retrofit of the B7 Direct TPMS system (after having already updated the gateway, updated the KSG / IMMO, and the Instrument Cluster) in my USA Spec 2010 VW CC VR6 4Motion.
@Bronken (@Bronze), used to have a webpage up that I was crosschecking the wiring for this fitment, but I think his website is either down, or he offlined it. I have ELSAWin nonetheless. In any case I have the wiring harness running up in through the Right Side trunk / boot area of the vehicle (behind the right tail light).
As the TPMS uses Pin 1 for CAN LOW and Pin 3 for CAN High, I'm wondering if there's anywhere in the trunk I can source or splice into the CAN LOW and CAN High lines. My vehicle is equipped with the factory backup camera.... is there somewhere on the backup CAM that uses CAN High and CAN Low? Is there someplace else with easier access? Also What about PIN 2 which carries the power to the TPMS module. Is there a good place to tie into for power from the trunk area?
Thanks.

The TMPS is based on the so called Extended CAN Bus. So you definitely have to retrofit a 7N0 Gateway module that supports ExtCan (not all do).
The only other devices that use ExtCan in the back of the car are the radar modules of the SideAssist system.

Yep - understood. As I stated in original post I've actually already adapted the gateway (7N0) AND the KSG comfort module as well. And interestingly enough... I adapted the side assist as well but haven't finished the run of the wire.
Looks like I'm just going to have to run these manually.
EXT Can for SideAssist and TPMS you'll get from pin 7 (low) and pin 17 (high) of an 7N0...AN gateway (f.e. the AK, AL, AM haven't EXT Can).

What about AJ?
7N0 907 530 AJ ?
Does ETKA list out all possible variants that carry the EXT CAN?

Yes, you can update AA + AE + AJ > AN > AS (I've read even possible > BC > BG ..)

Great! I have AJ installed now... Hmmm... I wonder if VW posted a flash to update the gateway to any newer versions. I think the AJ version I have now is z00 and I wanted a z01 model to support "rest mode" - rest detection... Whatever it's called. 🙂
Hmmm wonder if I could just flash the EEPROM with that...
Z01 may be "fatigue detection". If you have the dataset for it already flashed/inside, it should be retain by a software flash. On the other hand, you can flash the feature fatigue detection separately with VCP. The update BC has already integrated it.

I haven't applied fatigue detection yet (applied coding or anything) but since we were on the subject of the gateway, I thought maybe I'd tackle that as well.Any ideas on where I can find the flash file for this to update via VCP / ODIS-E?
VCP has all included in the tool (or you can find it via vcp foum), other links you'll find in russian forums f.e.
Remark, that the 44 and 17 have to fit the feature "fatigue detection" as well.

Good to know,
I'm assuming my Steering Assist Module (44) probably has to be replaced (unless it can be flashed?) - It is currently:
Part No SW: 5N1 909 144 K HW: 5N1 909 148 G
Revision: 1AH03726
My Instrument Cluster (17) was recently updated to the Premium Color and I assume does not need to be updated further (other than maybe coding):
Part No SW: 3C8 920 980 MX HW: 3C8 920 980 MX
H03 0132
My "5N1 909 144 K" steering works for MKE ("fatigue detection"😉 and has sw 1401.
Bronken wrote here, that you'll need only an B7 cluster (f.e. 3AA) for that.

I just read it. Do you have the capability to send me an EEPROM dump from your gateway that has the MKE supported?
According to bronken, "simply copy from a gateway with MKE the ranges 0x0ADB to 0x0FFF in the gateway MKE.
Any chance you could get me an EEPROM dump and I can transfer these bytes over? Also accroding to the article the updated Tacho that I have (which is a 3C8 version from the B7) should also work. I think it's just the HEX range on the Gateway I need to copy over.
Look here at dunt for it.
