new company car
Gutenmorgen,

Hey Dude,
So...first of all there are Mercedes Types as well as BMW types...audi on the other hand is not a choice.
I drove a 530d (which is a shitload of fun btw) for 5 months then switched to E-Class (which totally did not
meet my needs, good car dispite that) after that i rode a A6 3.0 TDI Quattro and i found that the quality is
not even comparable...all of the switches feel cheap and the gas paddl has like no resitance (just like the steering
wheel)...so I dont know...Audi really wasnt a choice for me...(I loved Audi before I rode it :P)
Well before I actually bought a 5series i drove a 530xd for a while...that thing rides like it's on tracks, altough it
loeses some part of the fun factor against the 530d as well as top speed.
Im now driving a 550i which is an awesome car, its got the torque of the 530d and the quiteness and
turbine style power inflation of the 530i...and now turbo lag :P...perfect car.
If I was you I'd take the 530d you'll start to hate rain and snow but other than that it's a great car.
Hello,
this is an intersting thread. No one so far jumped at the statement that he chooses from a catalogue only. So the advice, as always, is to try out the cars.
My own experience is that I was really disappointed when I had an allroad 3.0 tdi for some days. Sure a nice engine but this is what I disliked:
- UI, I had the feeling I was sitting to close to a 50 inch flat screen. Too many different places to look at. It was a real relief to sit in my E61 again.
- seats were by far not comparable. Ok I got the extra comfort seats in my E61 and so it is a little bit unfair but the Audi seats were crap compared to these.
- steering wheel, there is no better thing that the M wheel from BMW. The Audi wheel was so thin and if you ask me it was too easy to turn
- interior quality/materials, all car materials tell how much advanced the Audi quality is and what great materials they use but I was disappointed. The leather was very slippery, slick and stretched. The materilal mix at the dashboard was just too much. A little less would have been better. The indicator and wiper levers were strange like from a 80s Audi. I had always the fear that I could break them.
Do not get me wrong the A6/allroad certainly is a good car I was just disappointed. Maybe I had the wrong expectation based on how the car is always cheered up in all the magazines.
Regarding the E-Class it will be difficult to answer this one before anybody has seen the new model. I chose the E61 because it was the best car for me at this time and on top of that had the best price overall. In 2011 when I need to choose again it might be different.
Have you ever looked at the Volvo V70 / XC70? If it is not on you r comanies list just forget me mentioning it. I just like it (-;

Hi
thanks for all the answers, I was away for a few days.
Anywayz, I think it is going to be a BMW 525xd. I had a look at it at our local dealership, not the same engine but just to have a look and feel. I really loved the comfortsitze, and the ergonomics of the dashboard are really good.
The salesguy told me a new navigation system is going to be installed from September on, so well see.
Cheers
