But there is a problem... they don't sent them to the Czech republic... My question is: Is there anyone selling those wheels in Germany? I hope they may would be able to send it to me or I could go for them - Germany is little bit closer than England... I searched germans web sites but I can't find anything.... I hope there must be a place selling those wheels in the BMW's birthland... :-)
Thanks o lot for your help

Hi Leute,

David

I don't know where the problem should be??

"Post to the EU, USA and CAN"

In my oppinion, Czech Republic is in the EU🙂 so i can see no problem...

Thanks o lot mate for translating!
You are right but I've spoken to them and been told they don't send the wheels to the Czech republic...
There isn't a place in Germany selling those wheels?? How can that be? Is it illegal selling replica wheels in Germany?

No Prob, you're welcome🙂

It's not illegal to sell or buy replikas;

but it's illegal to mount them on your car...

In germany we have an organisation called "TÜV", and EVERY part you mount on your car has to be checked by them (e.g. strongness, stability and so on), and if they say it's okay the part will be sealed.

I think the rims are not proved by german tüv, so nobody can drive them on his bimmer legally.

That's the reason why they don't sell them in germany, i guess.

So it is useless trying to find a seller of those wheels in germany...

I understand...we have the same organisation here...and I can't find anyone selling them here neither...

Thank you anyway.
David

Hy David,

how far your live from Germany? Don't you know someone who lives here or one of your friends or relatives knows someone?

If so ask them. I think it's the easiest way to get these wheels.

Otherwise: Buy the originals (see also GraveDigger's thread), let them sandblast and let them paint new by a professional body shop. I think the costs for this service is less expensive in Czech republic then here in Germany. 🙂

Hello, David,
what´s about these wheels. 7J X 17. They are legal to your 318IS and are similar
to Alpina-wheels.

Hello Everybody,

I think that this company is not selling this stuff to some EU-Countries because of legal reasons. It is forbidden by the law of some countries to produce and/or even to sell such kind of replicas. It is called "Design Protection" and quite problematic in some countries (including germany!). This kind of law in GB is really nice to companies and also customers.

To be on the legal side, rims must be slightly different and is not allowed for them to be easily "switched" to be look a like the originals. And the rims you want to buy will be indistinguishable after exchanging the "caps".

If you would import this rims to the Czech Republic the authorities (in germany customs) can take them away, destroy them and you would be paying a penalty.

Kester

Hi Cooper,

I live about 150km from the border and don't know anyone who lives in Germany. But It wouldn't be a problem if I find anyone selling those wheels - I'd go for them or let it posted.

I've been thinking of buying old original Alpina wheel as well but they are more expensive than new replicas and very hard to find 4x100 stud... New wheels don't need any refurbishing niedher... :-) Anyway...if I'm not able to get a new replicas I will buy a set of used original Alpinas...

Hi Kester,

what you say is logic, but... I can buy a replikas of BMW M6, M5 or M3 (for example) with no problem here - so I wouldn'd be so much worried aboud legal reasons here... :-) They just don't offer Alpina design wheels... I asked many companies selling replika wheels whether they could get Alpina design wheel for me, but all of them sat they don't offer them... I don't know why....maybe simply because there just isn't many people who want to buy those wheels and it isn't profitable to offer them...

David

Hi,

The Reason for that is ... the authorities will only act, if a lawyer oder the company is complaining. And from all what I know Alpina and some other companies are realy keen on this topic, while companies like BMW itself don't feed this kind of aftersales market. They do sell their rims together with the car, so they don't loose money by such replicas.

MFG Kester
