Proof of Concept - Carplay in Navi 900 IL Gen 1 MY 2014

Hi zusammen,

ich versuche im deutschen Raum etwas zu probieren was die Amis scheinbar schon geschafft haben.
CarPlay, ein Feature von Navi 900 IL Gen 2 ab MY 2015 in einen 2014er Wagen zu packen.

Ausgebaut wird immer was hinter dem Handschuhfach und hinter dem Display. Ich glaube hinter dem Handschuhfach oder Display sitzt das HMI (Human Machine Interface, zu Deutsch: Mensch Maschine I… also MMI)

Was müsste wirklich genau getauscht werden und was müsste man verheiraten und kann das ein FOH auf Kundenwunsch überhaupt? Haben wir hier paar Insider FOH Servicetechniker und Programmier Ninjas?

Was ich nun mit diesem Thread versuche ist alle Infos zur Machbarkeit der Freischaltung zusammen zu tragen. Denn Opel wird uns nicht mehr mit einem App Store beglücken, aber selbst wenn die es gemacht hätten, an der Aktualität von Handies kommen Automarken eh nicht ran. Also sollen die sich den App Store by Opel/ GM in den Allerwertesten schieben. Was sie anscheinend schon gemacht haben, denn sie haben ja Navi 900 IL Gen 2 entwickelt und CarPlay {und Android Auto} rausgelassen. Mit dieser Aktion würde ich gerne ein BIG FAT FUCK YOU in Richtung Opel schicken und mir für kleines Geld das Reinholen was sie uns verwehren.

Genau dieses CarPlay sollte es auch für die MY MJ 2014 geben, technisch sollte das doch kein Problem darstellen oder? Dann könnte man endlich die dummen Ansagerin aus dem Opel sowie die Navigation vergessen und Siri nutzen. Was meint ihr, ist sowas möglich und interessant genug für die Masse?

Bitte keine Diskussion wie doof Appel und wie toll Android ist. Das interessiert hier keinen.

ich habe die Einstellungen meines Navi 900 mal auf USB gesichert und die XML Datei aufgemacht.

deckt sich aber mit keiner Nummer von slv rider. vielleicht kann ja mal ein glücklicher CarPlay Besitzer seine Nummer posten, sehe ich es dann richtig, dass das die Teilenummer eines HMI 2.5 sein könnte, zum nachbestellen beim Zubehör?

Steuert das HMI auch den 7 Zoll tacho? Wofür ist es genau verantwortlich? Nur fürs Radio oder auch für andere Komponenten?

hi zusammen, ich habe wieder mal mit jemanden gesprochen und Neuigkeiten.

der typ ist Italiener und hat seinen Insignia von 160PS auf OPC Look gebracht. Normalen BC gegen 7" ausgetauscht, dann die OPC Software aufgespielt usw usw. Der hat schon etwas Ahnung was er da macht und kennt den Insignia halbwegs auswendig.

Damit ich hier nicht n Haufen erzählen muss, packe ich mal unseren Gesprächsverlauf einfach unten rein:

I also saw that you sold intellilink 900 parts and you know also a lot about this system.

I own a insignia Opel from 2014 with intellilink 900 generation 1 on a hmi 2.0 with latest firmware/ updates (can provide exact firmware versions). I also know that Opel/GM fucked all the buyers buy not supporting the old generation anymore and without the promises ability for the app shop. I also know that the generation 2 from 2015 models has carplay and uses hmi 2.5 with much better hardware.

My big question to you is, ia it possible to install/ switch just the hmi from 2.0 to 2.5, maybe program it to my FIN/ VIN and get then hardware running to activate CarPlay? Do you know where the hmi Modul is hidden (behind 8" screen or behind the glove box)? I know pretty much about pc and Linux so I could follow instructions to try and get this to work. Like a proof of concept. My insignia also has dab, rear cam and 7" screen behind the steering wheel.

I know that some guys in America could achieve it but I have not anymore informations.

Do you know more? I have a bunch of interested people gathered in a thread on a German board and we collect all informations to get this also working.

The HMI 2.5 is on the my16 car, the my15 car Mount the hmi 2.0 without carplay.
The HMI 2.5 is not compatible with your VIN and the programmation is impossible.
The radio part number change, for work you need change hmi and radio , but your vin in the new system can't be installed in.

Who can program my VIN to the new hardware? Do you think the cable changed or is it a plug play thing and reprogram to my VIN?

The wire is the same. change also the USB port!

i can't know at the moment the part number, but in Opel this cost an eye!!!

about 1700€ for radio module and 2400€ for hmi..... crazy....

And how can I program it to my vin? Where is the hmi? Behind the glove box?

the hmi is under the climate control.
with canonical metod (opel dialer) is not possible programmer the new hmi and new radio with a old VIN, the system not permit this...

i don't know how is possible to do. i don't have see an hmi 2.5 and i can't have maked test on it.

Interesting, I thought it's sitting behind the glove box. Ok, so it's behind the climate control. Good, so it's one spot to change both: navi 900 and hmi

The HMI used in USA is different and the operating system is different from the ours.
In america have reprogrammed the kernel and maked the other program for have this function, i have asked to the USA vendor for this modify, but for the european version this is not possible because the software in HMI and radio is totally different....

so you think the hope is lost even by changing Navi 900 Radio Unit and to new HMI 2.5 and USB Ports.
or do you think an opel service provider could reprogram it, i just have to find the one?

All part you buy new is without programmation ans vin. With this contition NOT work. You need upload program with USB key, ptogram and configure. In this procedure (programming/configurating) the vin is writed into the single ecu. If opel try to program new parts with old vin, the system block this and write hardware incompatible with this vin. And is noylt possible make this.

🙁 that is really sad to hear. i thought it could be done. and i think there is no „hack“ around right?
i mean all is based on linux and OSS from bosch, theoretically its a computer that is programmed to accept a VIN.
damn, why i can’t hack suck crap… there is no reason it couldn’t run with all cables and sensors installed. but opel just made it impossible to program…

Yes, he HMI i a Linux and have a rear port for access, but i don't know how is possible access to the system.
In same file is stored the VIN, and if is possible access to the system and modify (after have finded) this files with vin right, the hmi work in all car.

i can'y have find the metod for program with the rear port or for connect a pc at this port....

gibt es hier im Forum jemanden, der direkt bei Opel arbeitet und an den Teilkatalog kommt? Mich würde es interessieren, was für eine Part-Nummer und welche Kosten für die 2 benötigten Teile auf einen zukommen:

- Navi 900 Intellilink für einen MY2016
- HMI 2.5 für einen MY2016

Wie schon seit langem vermutet, zeigt eines der Videos was möglich wäre, wenn OPEL offen und ehrlich mit seinen Gen1-Kunden umgegangen wäre.
Die Information vom nicht möglichen Umrüsten des IL900 von Gen1 auf Gen2 gehört demnach in die Welt der Märchen und das überrascht mich nicht wirklich. 🙄

Ja, hacking was Opel so will... Eine Abfrage der Fin und dadurch zu sagen "darfst du nicht"....Opel versucht das so einfach nur zu unterbinden, damit man neue Autos kauft

Ich besitze zwar kein Intelli Link 900, jedoch interessiert mich dieses Thema auch, existieren eventuell Fotos vom Innenleben der HMI?

Vor allem der "Access Port" hat meine Neugier geweckt, ich gehe nicht davon aus, dass hinter dem Port eine fertige Bash Console auf mich wartet, aber ein serielles Interface mit Debug Infos wäre schon die halbe Miete.

Aber Vermutlich handelt es sich um ein SPI interface um den Flash-speicher direkt anzusprechen.

Wäre ja schön wenn man überhaupt mal an so eine firmware oder developper framework ran kommt. Dann könnt man vielleicht den Stand wo die Apps aktiv sind aktiviere erreichen. Evtl. ist ja da auch ein Mirrorlink möglich wäre ja schon mal ein erster Schritt bevor wir die ganze Hardware für teueres Geld tauschen müssen.
