Next-Gen Sensus mit Android Google Maps und Play Store: Android Automotive

Das Thema hatten wir schon in einigen Threads gestriffen, aber nun wird es wieder akut

Google and Volvo announced last year that they were teaming up to build Android into future cars. Such a set up will allow drivers to use their infotainment system independently of their smartphones since the system itself will operate on Android. Volvo says that the first Android-based system will launch in a couple of years.

Dazu ein paar Sachen, die mir auffegallen sind:

• - Keine Angabe, ab wann (Modelljahr 2020?) und für wen (nachrüstbar?, mMn eher nicht)
• - Kein kompletter Zugriffauf den Play Store, sondern nur auf angepasste Apps aus dem Play Store

Hallo Banxx,

da steht aber auch "...will launch in a couple of years...". Für die KFZ-Industrie wäre Modeljahr 2020 schon sehr optimistisch ;-) .

Ansonsten hört sich das ganz okay an, wobei ich persönlich (als Administrator) hoffe dass die jede Form des "Rooten" versuchen zu unterbinden und deutlich mehr Energie in die Sicherheit stecken als Google selbst, gerade was die Installation von Apps angeht.

Ich zitiere mal aus dem deutschsprachigen Newsletter:

"Vor einem Jahr wurde bekanntgegeben, dass die nächste Generation des Volvo Infotainment-Systems auf der Google Android-Plattform basieren wird. Das erste System auf Android-Basis soll in einigen Jahren eingeführt werden."

Es ist also die Rede von der "nächsten Generation" und "in einigen Jahren", was das aus dem Werbedeutsch übersetzt bedeutet dürfte m.E. klar sein: Keine Umstellung der aktuellen Systeme

Könnte mir vorstellen es wird vielleicht mit einem XC90 III eingeführt werden und nicht abwärts kompatibel sein.

Denke auch erst mit XC90 III erhältlich und nie und nimmer abwärtskompatibel.

Hoffen wir, dass unser 'altes' Sensus bis dahin noch schön weiterentwickelt und mit neuen Apps und Funktionen versorgt wird! :)

Bin mir unsicher, ob man es braucht...aber die Apps sind so unglaublich langsam auf dem Sensus, quasi nutzlos für die Anwendung.

Ich glaube übrigens, dass das Ding nicht erst im XC90 III lkommt. Letztes Jahr auf der Google I/O wurde schon eine funktionierende Lösung in einem S90 gezeigt - deshalb gehe ich von einer Modelljahresabhängigen Einführung in der 60er und 90er Baureihe ein, wenn wohl auch kaum schon im Mj2020.

P.S. Das kommt natürlich nur für die nächste Sensus Generation.

Jetzt könnte man natürlich streiten, ob mit "Generation" die Software oder Hardware UND Software gemeint ist. Ich bin sicher, dass Volvo sich auf letzteres bezieht, was eben ein Softwareupdate aus Android Automotive für die aktuellen Sensus Systeme nicht vorsehen dürfte. Wann das kommt? Who knows... Aktuelle Schätzung ist Mj. 2020

Das wäre etwa ab Mai 2019. Glaube ich eher nicht. Aber Wissen ist was anderes ;)

Na ja, sie haben es bei Google und Volvo so gesagt und einen My 2020 XC40 präsentiert, der das hat und kann. Für das Kalenderjahr 2021 hat Google dann eine entsprechende Kooperation mit Renault-Nissan geschlossen. Dann soll dieren Fahrzeuge gegoogled werden.
