Idle Stuttering.. golf II 1.8 monojet (english)
hey guys.. sorry for intruding your forum!. please answer in english as i don't know a single german word 🙂
anyways.. i got some problems with my golf.. the idle is stuttering like mad.. the only thing i could think of is the lambda probe.. but that was changed 3 months ago 🙁
anyways.. i got some vids for you to see/and hear how she runs on idle
vid 1
vid 2
in addition to having the lambda probe changed, i've changed the following bits
blue/red/black temp sensor
distributorcap and rotor,
all spark cables
coil
sparkplugs
lambda probe
and its still stuttering and causing problems to me.. the car shakes like crazy!
and i've head that its possible to read out failcodes from the car. where is that done, and how, and what are the codes (where can i find them)
The car in question is a:
VW golf 1991 1.8GL (RP - monojet)

please translate now 🙂 and then i have something to read out when i'm in my car to test this...
anyhow.. if the vakuumline to the brakeservo is rupured, wouldn't i loose the brake feel of my car?
edit:
about the failcode reading.. shall the car be on. or off? should the ignition be on?
That ist difficult because i don´t know what is for example "Drosselklappensteller" in english. 🙂
When the vakuumline is broken you brake works normally. But the engine starts stuttering.

according to babelfish the english word for "Drosselklappensteller" is "Butterfly valve plate"...
Babelfish produces semantically dead english!
You should better read out your memory and post the codes. Then we translate the relevant codes for you 🙂

Drosselklappensteller means throttle-valve actuator.

throttle-valve actuator - sometimes pictures are simpler.😉
It's part number 8 on the picture, see appendix.
ask to your problem: is that always like that, all the same whether warm or cold engine?

i got a 12v led layong around.. could i use this?
oh, and could someone please be so kind to translate the fault errors for me? i don't understand any of them 🙁
It's important to use a LED with a resistor (500...1000 Ohm).
A normal 12V light can cause damages.
Start the engine and wait a view seconds.
-battery+ ------- +Led ------- resistor ----|---- control unit
|
|-------------------------- T -----------------------|
Close the connection between battery ground and control unit for a minimum time of 5 sec. (u better wait 10 sec.).
After this the unit should start with writing out the error codes.

did you have the problems already before you lambda had changed?
you could drive for a test without lambda, are important only to that separate the Lambda-interwiring also the ECU for at least 30 seconds are separated.

where do i hook up the led then? in the cables underneath my shiftboot?
i've got 2 plugs there.. one 2with 2 wires, and one with only one wire (gray)

The problems started for a long long time ago.. just didn't bother doing anything because i was broke at that time.. now i'm not, so now i'm going to try to fix this little problem
when i disconnect the lambda, and then test run.. nothing happens.. just the same.. 🙁
i've got a little photo of my engine room.. looks a little messy tho.. just because i used thin syntetic oil.. and it leaks everywhere 🙁
anyways, the photo:

just some more remaks in the photo..
don't mind the plug for the oil sensor.. this happen way before this plug broke off 🙁
and the earth you see there is fixed now.. didn't do any difference that either

Yes, after you disconnect the lambda, you must also disconnect the ECU (ElectronicControlUnit) for at least 30 seconds.

hmm.. can't i just disconnect the lambda, then the plus part of my battery for 30 sec?
would be easier then hassling about in 18degrees below zero with wires that are stiff from cold and where its to tight to do anything..
i've noticed that the ecu cables has a screw in it.. do it have to be there? cuz when i took out the ecu yesterday, i unscrewed this and forgot to rescrew it!

I don't now, on my plug it is a clip. For a short time it will be probably no problem screws away to permit.
mine have a clip aswell.. but it was a small screw there too!
anyways.. i will try to do the following tips when i cone home from work! 🙂
but for the record. WHERE do i find the place where i read out the fail codes?
