Welcome to Motor-Talk!
Nice car you got over there. Be sure to remove the crystal clear lightshow. Then you got it perfect. 😉
I like your body kit though..., haven't seen one over here in a long time.
Basically what the other guy was sayin is, that this is a platform to discuss technical problems. If you'd like to introduce your car, and maybe show more details, be sure post a blog!
Looking forward to read / see more of your Golf!
Kind regards 🙂

Although a warm welcome from my side and a profound appreciation of the old beauty with a her really rare and sexy kamai-skirt 😁
So what's up with the strange notion of the first user here about your post? dodo already explained it half way (he couldn't do better because the whole truth is to shaming for to get explained by only one man 🙁 ) - so it's up to me now to do the second part of this ugly job:
What you have to understand first is, that this is a German forum (don't worry, this won't turn in to a nationalistic argument 🙂 ) and Germans are "different", watching them from outside you could although use the term "strange". They call there forum motor-talk, but you are not allowed to talk simply about your car, you basically need a "problem" to do so. The problem can be
- a "real technical" problem
- a "faked technical problem": that's a psycological problem (mostly with a sexual background) disguised as a question concerning "tuning"
- theoretical technical problem in the sense of simple "ignorance" concerning a technical question
If you have no problem with your car, no theoretical question and a sane and balanced sexuality (equals no need of idiotic tuning) you are in a mess, you are not allowed to post! 😕
For people like you they created the possibility of a "blog". The problem now (finally one - but basically useless) is, that so long as nobody knows you, nobody will visit your blog! A section like "owners cars", "members-gallery" or "presentations" within the Golf-mk2-forum or as a sticky on top of the list had thousand times been asked for - but here fails the famous German efficiency 😠
We have a quite idiotic thread with a title that's not even correct German language (sometimes really ghetto here too 😁)
http://www.motor-talk.de/.../...gut-erhaltene-golf-2-t2026829.html?...
And for al the ones that don't understand what I'm talking and asking about here a perfect example how a modern forum could look like:
http://www.clubgti.com/forum/index.php
Although excellent forum with members chat and the sticky-solution in the mk2-section:
http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php
So if you wan't to join us, you are welcome but please don't wonder to much about some idiotic comments from other users or "administrators".
Cheers!
ya thanks for the words, im on the vwortex forum most of the time, i that it would be nice to post some pictures of my car in a diffrent forum.
Here are some more pictures of the car, im doing a corrado dash swap next week, im just waiting for the steering colum to get here from Florida...
I think your GTI looks like a nice example of 80s-meet-today. Its very individual and timeless, I like that. The only thing I'd change would be the orange front blinkers. Try to find smoked or white ones.
If you still got that Mattig front grille, be careful. They made it of cheap plastics, it'll deform if its getting hotter than ~100°F outside, you know a car will get far more warmer than that.
thanks, its not a mattig grill anymore its a FK or somethink like that. The girl friend got it for me last birthday, because the mattig just broke one day,i was thinking about getting a ralley golf front end but there realy hard to get in North Amerika. And im still thinking about getting euro bumbers because im not a big fan of the US spec ones.
Yes, the Rallye-Front is also very expensive over here, especially since VW doesnt deliver anything for it anymore since '07, well, it was expensive here before also. I think it took around 1000€ (app. $1270 today) to get all that stuff new from VW. But since you have other regulations in the US try to get it from South Africa as far as I know, they still offer it there.
*lol* Same old story, whats hard to get is very sought after. US-bumpers are quite wanted over here and you like the German ones...
Ya the US bumper and the westmorland front end isn't the runner over here every body wants the German parts if you need something let me know we can trade stuff or something
It's really strange to watch Americans look for Euro parts whlie many people on this side of the ocean go crazy for US stuff. I guess we all just want some rare parts on our cars... Mine is stuffed with them 😉
I too like your car, but you definitely have to cahnge your turn signals to smoked ones. They're not even that expensive, I had some shipped to Germany a couple of years ago.
The whole front end would look much cleaner...
Keep up the good work and send our regards to the Vortex forum!
ya i might stick around in this forum for a while... do you guys know of any german parts company or web sides that sale or ship parts to north america(seattle) id like to get some german fender so i dont have to shave the US ones(sidemarker holes) and maby a clear hatch window dont realy like the third brake lights.
@blackmail tobi: wo ist denn Dein Eingangspost geblieben? 😕 Wenn man etwas hier reinschreibt, sollte man schon dazu stehen. 😉
@a2kameix1: be sure to check the following websites, they offer Volkswagen parts and I'm sure they'll ship to the US
=> *this one*
=> *and this one*
Maybe ebay Germany is also a good possibility to find parts.
Kind regards from Bavaria!
the thing with german ebay is that some people dont like to ship to the usa, i got a bbs steering wheel from some guy and he never shipt it to me.ohhh and thanks for the Links. The only good thing over here is that there is no TUV or anthing so you can do what ever you want on your car.
Buying and shipping from Germany is mostly for you very inconvenient due to the exchange-rate $-€ and high shipping costs. We often seek to buy cheeper the other way round, for example from here
http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=2_6_14_39
For the rest we are all still lucky with richly endorsed scrap-yards, German- or UK-ebay and a very competitive spare-parts-market.
If you are from Florida, you could meet some of your local latino-friends in this hispanic forum
