BMW 2er F45 (Active Tourer)

Hello forum,

I would like to introduce myself,
First of all, please excuse me for writing in English for my German writing is no good at all,
I can read it and speak it a little but that’s it.
If this is not allowed on the forum or if it is a problem, please let me know and I’ll shut up in the future and just read in silence ;-)

So, my name is Walter, I'm 63 years old and live in the Flemish speaking part of Belgium in a small town near Antwerp,
I drive BMW for almost 40 years now, manly motorcycles, and now bought a 220i AT with all the mechanical goodies to be delivered in April 2016 (my choice).
I've been reading the forum for quit a wile now and tough it was time I join the club to learn some more about our BMW and maybe sometime put in my two cents.
Yours sincerely,
Walter

Hi every one,

I have also read this forum for some years, but haven´t dared to write, since I also read German quite good but "schreiben ist eine andere Sache......."

I have also been a BMW-owner for many years:

E46/318A -98
E46/330xd -01
E46/318i Touring -01
E46/320D Touring -01
E46/320D Touring -04
E91/318d Touring -08
E46/320i -01
E87/116d -11
E90/316d Sedan 2010
F20/118d/A Sport 2012
F30/318dA 2013

I now own an F45/218iAT Automat 2015 which I am very happy with - totally the best BMW I have ever owned- if you consider all aspects of the car.

welcome u2, no problem to write in english, this is a forum for everyone

Welcome - maybe this could be the English communicating part for AT/GT drivers and those who are interested in...
Thanks for doing this initial posts!

Welcome. Due to "mangelhaft" german writing skills I am not an active contributor here. However, I suspect a small minority of us non-native german speakers exists who have sufficient german language skills to peruse this fantastic Motor Talk Forum to find the best information about our beloved BMW (or any other german manufacture) vehicles. Most members are very helpful and I have no doubt that questions written in English will receive the same helpful replies as the native German versions.

And, by the way, I am George, 49 years old, live in Switzerland (reason why I understand German), and am the happy owner of a F45 218dA.

Hello everyone!

My name is Predrag and I am from Zagreb, Croatia.
I understand spoken and written german perfectly but don`t speak or write that often.
Therefore I better write in english.
Been passively following this great forum since past five years.
My car is 2011, 520d Touring F11. First owner and a very happy one!
However next week we will get a new Beemer for my wife:
218d Active Tourer Luxury line with automatic gearbox.
She is emotional about BMWs`s as she had her 328i about fifteen years ago.
Looking forward to share the experience with all of you here!

Cheers!

Predrag

Welcome to everybody who join BMW cars and lets get a good discussion about our hobby.

For translation of unknown words I use leo.

Welcome Walter and all the other non-german speakers!

Don´t hesitate to open a thread in english at any time. There will be enough people joining english discussions ... I mean come on it´s nearly 2016 🙂

Hello Pedrag and welcome to our group.

An emotional and passionate attachment to BMW is a common denominator amongst all our friends and neighbours here in CH who have a Balkan country heritage. Unfortunately there is stigma attached to their affection for the 2-door variety. For me it shows good taste! Anyhow, your choice of BMW models shows that this stigma is not well founded.

I trust your wife will thoroughly enjoy your 218d automatic. Mine does and is always commenting about how nice and easy it is to drive.

A final comment which I hope you will not offend you. In English speaking circles it is typical that:
Bimmer = BMW automobiles
Beemer = BMW motorcycles
So, I hope your wife was not anticipating S 1000 RR! ;-)

Cheers to you too,

George

I second that; good to see English discussion threads on this forum.

While I am new here and to my new GT (next week) I am happy to answer any question about my car and in either German or English.
Just PM me if needed.

All the best in 2016!
