Q 7 4.2 tdi mit fast 500 Ps bj 2008
Hallo, habe gerade diese Kuh gefunden dieser soll 500 ps haben kann das sein als 4.2 tdi? kann mir das nicht ganz vorstellen? da er mit chip ja bei den faclift mit 340ps ja höchstens auf 400 kommt...

edc17 (250kw and 281kw) have 2000bar rail. i think only little mod of intercooler and turbo.
I like my 326 HP/240kW@3.750 RPM @ 1600 bar in the 4.2 TDI at 2.5 bar charge press., decreased torque because of the gear box down to 650Nm. This flatten the torque curve down to a long straight max torque line between 1.600 and 3.500 RPM continously 650 Nm :-)
This makes the engine between 180 km/h and 220 km/h very effective regarding fuel consumption, high average speed's and range. For sure it goes much faster without any stress. Okay this ist the BVN engine in the A8, but also for a big car with poor cw - readings like the Q7 it would be better and the engine life time goes up to 500.000 miles. With 500 HP the life span of the very light 4.2 TDI, will be decreased down to 250. - 300.000 km.
It depends what you need. In UK, like in entire EU, instead some autoways in germany you never can drive the power anyhow ;-) My diesel is easy running up to 274 km/h@ 4.150 RPM before the fuel supply will be shut off the acceleration. If I would lift the high end speed up, my car could go up to 300 km/h. Therefore the weight of the car is by far too heavy and the brakes by far not strong enough. With the heavy Q7 its even worse.
So what you are looking for to have 500 HP in such heavy cars? This makes only sense if you could radikally decrease the car weight. This is only following physical requirements, nothing else.
By the way, the Q7 12 - Zyl. with 600 HP has carbon/ceramic brakes and there is a very good reason for.
For sure this is a beast ;-) no compromises.

There are so many possibilities, to optimize or changing something. Even you can play with timing and injection values. Anyhow, next year I'll do a performace test. Away from the marketing and brochures, TDI engines can have up to 25% more or less performance than specified. Even today there are tolerances. The given values are only average minimum data's. When I did that, I'll come back with my results.
