GLA 180 Benzin die ersten 1500KM einfahren?

Hallo Leute,

vorgestern haben wir unseren GLA 180 Benzin in Rastatt abholen können! Bei der Fahrzeugübergabe hat die Dame mir gesagt, dass man die ersten 1500KM nicht schneller als 140km/h und 4000U/Min fahren soll! Jetzt mal ehrlich, einfahren kenne ich von den neuen BMW und MINI überhaupt nicht, ist da was dran?

Just my personal 2 cents on the topic: all components in a new car have never been tested properly "together", that is engine+transmission+steering+electrics, etc. The tests are done of course after assembly, but for quality check purposes, not proper driving (hundreds of km).

Therefore even though the engine or transmission itself was tested separately (i believe every engine is burned in before assembly and delivered to the factory for installation), it would be good to test drive/burn in the whole assembled car in a sensible fashion after purchase (0 km).

The problem is that all electronics get calibrated from first km driven, therefore a safe/ECO type of driving will set the tone for the ECU to "learn" your initial style. We all heard of DSG gearbox "memory" or "learning style", right?

What you can do after, say 500KM of relaxed driving (10 days of 50KM per day, not a lot! :)) is to soft-reset the ECU as follows (should be valid for all Mercedes, resets adaptive transmisson & throttle settings):

Note ALL the electrical must be shut off, including climate control. Don't operate anything electrical, radio-windows-dome light-etc, during the procedure.

1) Turn the Key to the "on" position (the position right before you start your engine)

2) Press and hold your gas pedal down for more than 5 seconds

3) With gas pedal still down, turn Key to "off" position (don't remove the key) and then release the gas pedal.

4) Wait at least 2 minutes for the car systems to reset.

5) Remove key, wait another couple of minutes

6) Start car

This "soft reset" rests the tranny and ECU to original "agressive" factory defaults - since "adaptive" program was designed for economy, and not performance.

Da mein Englisch nicht so dolle ist, versteh ich nur die Hälfte und hab mich dann nicht getraut

Ausserdem hab ich schon 30 000km auf dem Tacho

Der macht das ganz gut und es ist dann auch für Dich zu 99% verständlich.

Aber ich hab ja ein Deutsches gewählt, weil ich der Sprache mächtig bin

Yes, kollege, du hast recht :)

Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut, allerdings lesen kann ich viel besser als schreiben, bin sozusagen "semi" analfabet :) Deswegen schreibe ich besser auf english als deutsch, ihr konnt ruhig weiter auf deutsch posten..

just checked the google translation of the instructions above and the "reset tranny and ECU" part is definitely wrong translated in german :D
