NEW VOLVO V70 - MY05 PRODUCT UPDATE

1. INTRODUCTION
· The New Volvo V70 Model Year 05 (MY05) represents the major update and freshening to the model during its lifecycle.
· The new model will be officially unveiled on Tuesday 25th May at the Birmingham Motor Show. This will be the global launch event for the new model. Until then all images are strictly embargoed.
· MY05 production commences week 25 (Torslanda) and week 26 (Ghent) for all P2X models. The production up until factory shut down is allocated for introduction car only.
· Introduction cars are expected in dealerships from week 32 with first customer cars expected from week 35
· CIS is now open for MY05 orders. We have also provided draft pdf extracts from the MY05 price lists (retail prices, specifications and options) to assist you in ordering vehicles. These should be used until printed price lists become available in early June.

2. NEW VOLVO V70
The New Volvo V70 - MY05 sees major revisions to the exterior and interior design of the cars along with many technical changes and also quality and dynamic improvements. With improvements in standard specification and the new T5 engine, as well as an upgrade of the 2.0T engine, we have a great opportunity to improve our performance, especially in the petrol segment.

· EXTERIOR DESIGN

The exterior design changes are aimed at refreshing and refining the original V70 design whilst increasing perception of luxury. Particular attention has been paid to improving quality, fit, finish and design detailing. The overall effect is improved visual strength, stance and solidity. 'V' range differentials are continued, in line with the All-New Volvo S40, and the New V70 design is more harmonised with the New V50 design. By using visual 'Jewellery' elements the New V70 looks more sophisticated and elegant. The key changes are:
- new 'soft nose'
- new larger, more 3 dimensional and lower chrome "Waterfall" grille. Angled to the line of the headlamps.
- new clear, plastic lens headlamp design with dual chrome lenses and silver surround. Lower, outer frame is similar to front grille frame. Bi-Xenon has overlapping dual lenses
- new 'V' range (trapezoidal) fog lights
- new lower air intake with body coloured splitter bar
- new fixed nozzle and integrated headlamp wash system (different on S60)
- new front bumpers with body coloured and split rubbing strip (with chrome insert on SE)
- new body coloured side rubbing strips
- new body coloured sills, lower side door mouldings and bumper spoilers (Sport and SE only)
- new rear lamp design with clear lens and added 'jewellery' effect. LED side markers
- new rear bumper design with body coloured rubbing strips and loading area. Features replaceable black ribbed load protector below tailgate opening matching inner load protector.
- new larger chrome rear exhaust pipe ends (2.0T, 2.5T and T5)
- new 16" 7J Eurus alloy wheels (optional) – 5 spoke design
- new 17” Orpheus alloy wheels (Sport models) – similar to Nebula design
- new 17" Orestes alloy wheels (SE models) – 5 spoke design
- 18" Capella alloy wheel option introduced for Sports Handling pack
- new 'Flat Blade' windscreen wipers. Improved appearance, reduced noise and improved functionality.
- new Water Repellent Glass coating for rear view mirrors. Standard on Sport and SE
- new Water Repellent Glass coating to laminated side window option. Can be renewed with treatment using replacement part number 9437496. This can also be added to older cars but will only last for 6-12 months if not a factory option.
- new improved rainsensor function with separate button for activation

· INTERIOR DESIGN

Like the exterior design brief the interior design changes are aimed at refreshing and refining the overall design and detailing. Attention has been paid to improve the feeling of 'craftsmanship' within the cabin. The overall impression is that of a real upgrade of the interior. The key changes are:
- new matt finish on the dash top with deeper grain – reduces reflections by around 50%
- new matt door panel finish with new grab handle design
- new textile on sun visors and A pillars
- new upgraded centre stack design with inlay frame and revised cup holder/GSM phone, audio and climate control intersections
- new ergonomic audio design with 'push button' control for presets and source
- new tunnel console design with sliding cover in inlay material
- new 'multifunction' armrest including up to 4 cup holders, burger tray and storage compartment (trimmed in flock with ambient lighting). Aluminium release switches
- new Walnut (real wood) inlay option available - £500
- new Manganite inlay in dark grey metallic (std – S)
- new Aluminium mesh inlay colour (Std - Sport and SE, exchangeable with Black Mesh)
- new Space ball gearshift design for manual gearbox (std - Sport and T5)
- new rear armrest design with optional cup holders
- new seat design with improved control mechanism (similar to P1X) and increased adjustment range. The seats feature slimmer head rests to improve visibility for rear passengers and to help improve the perception of interior space.
- new Vestborg Sport Leather Textile upholstery with 'silver weave' fabric (std - Sport)
- Additional upholstery level - new Sovereign Hide Sport Soft Leather upholstery with additional padding and coloured stitching (upgrade – S, Sport and SE)
- All large cars will also feature a new electrical system

· DYNAMICS AND PERFORMANCE

The new 2nd generation Four-C (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept) Active Chassis option, with 2 functions – Comfort and Sport, will be available on all V70 models (excluding Bi-Fuel). The system is uniquely tuned for V70 models with more emphasis on well damped body control. Unlike the S60 FOUR-C Active Chassis system the V70 system uses 'sky-hook' control in both Comfort and Sport modes to prioritise body control over ultimate grip.

As with S80 and R models the system is NOT variable damping but fully active damping with 2 distinct operating ranges. During extreme manoeuvres the system automatically adjusts to stabilise the car whichever setting you have selected.

An all new T5 engine, upgraded from 2,319 cc to 2,401 cc is introduced. This features a new 6-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed geartronic. Power is increased from 260 bhp (was 250 bhp) and 350 Nm @ 2,100 rpm. Improved torque delivery at low rpm and more responsive throttle characteristics. The model features a new larger turbo, dual CVVT on inlet and exhaust sides and larger 316mm ventilated front disc brakes. ) 0 – 62 mph is improved from 7.1 to 6.8 on the manual and from 7.5 to 7.2 on the geartronic. Fuel economy is improved from 26.2 mpg combined to 28.2 mpg on the geartronic model with CO2 changing from 225 g/km to 226 g/km for the manual and improving from 258 g/km to 239 g/km for the geartronic. This improves BIK from 37% to 33% for the geartronic with the manual staying the same at 31%.

An upgraded 2.0T engine is introduced with the same 180 bhp but improved driving characteristics. Peak torque remains at 240 Nm but is available from 1850 rpm (previously from 2200 rpm)

The ZF Speed-dependent steering system option (£225) is now available on D5 models

The 2.4(140), 2.4(170) and D5 all benefit form the addition of a front anti-roll bar that improves body control during cornering. All V70 models will get the Dynamic chassis as standard.

Fabric rear wheel arch liners are added to improve sound insulation from road/tyre and suspension noise.

...JAAA.

Ich habe mich durchgekämpft und
kann zum Glück gut Englisch.

Ist doch einiges Neues dabei, jedoch
auch nichts weltbewegendes und etwas
das wir noch gar nicht wussten.

Die Frage ist auch, ob bestimmte Optionen
und Pakete dem englischen Markt vorbehalten
bleiben.

@tr-driva,

Dirk

interessant - danke

na dann gibt es ja nächste woche endlich fotos....

bin schon sehr neugierig. obwohl ja noch kein neukauf ansteht 😉

und da les ich noch was von:
new Water Repellent Glass coating for rear view mirrors
plus
Can be renewed with treatment using replacement part number 9437496. This can also be added to older cars but will only last for 6-12 months if not a factory option.

sehr interessant

(schon garnicht gegen Aufpreis)

> Dynamische Fahrwerksabstimmung Serie bei allen V 70 - Modellen - Sänfte a la American ade !

Karsten
