Hallo Omega friends

Opel Omega B

Hallo alle Omega freunde!
I am Swedish and I hope that it is allowed and that you forgive me for writing in English. Ich kann Deutsch ganz gut ferstehen aber wenn sie zu viel auto vörter und slang vörter vervendet, dann habe ich probleme. Aber anvorten in Deutsch get auch gut, ich lese besser als ich screibe.

I know the car terms better in english mainly due to the fact that my Omega B, Haynes handbook is in english.
I have read this chat for a while and I thought that I would introduce my self among you other Omi-fans.
I came to like the Omega B to begin with when my wife got her fathers 2.0, -95 in 2001. As I am 194 cm and have had some back problems, I came to love the space and comfort of the Omega. I have been running a Ford 17M, 2000 S, -68 for about 20 years which is still more spacier but not as comfortable as the Omega. Before my wife had an Omega A, -87, 2.0 but I did not fall in love with that one, mayge because of the time I spent under it :-).
The -95 was sneak-equipped but totally error free at 110 000 km when a lady drove into its right front ving and ended its days 2004-04.
For the insurance money we bought a -97, 2,5 liter 160 000 km, which we came to like still more, due to the V6 and the steering which sure has another feeling. I put quite some hours into this car: Rear springs brooken, I added a hook, replaced rubber bearings in the front lower suspension arms, anti-rollbar drop-link, removal of terrible amateur installed anti-theft alarm, rear brake overhaul etc etc. We also had it anti-rust treated and just one main error, oil leakage from cam covers remained, when I crashed/scrapped this car all by myself, into a Mitsubishi mini lorry, the road was here pure ice and no sand, in december 04. 15-20 km/h both cars and no one was injured. But I was of course VERY sorry and tired and not my own favourite. The family needs a car and I/we found another -97, 2,5, 160 000 km on the net, that we purchased. But here I did one mistake that I can share with you friends: I checked the entire car thoroughly as I by now quite well know where to look, BUT stupid enough I forgot to listen to the engine at different rpm:s, also in WARM condition. The error that I missed by this omission was serious, an erroneous big-end bearing of the fifth cylinder. So if you aim to buy any used car, please listen also to the warm engine when the oil is thinner and through-out the rpm range!! This error was not to hear in cold condition and when the enginen is loaded the sound also disapperad (The latter is mentioned in Haynes).
In Sweden we have a saying that goes: If the brain is weak the body will suffer. In this case the wallet will suffer, while this was too much for me, I have done most repairs myself on my cars, but this time I am too occupied and I have employed a shop to do this work. They recommended replacement of all crank-shaft en big-end bearings. Also I have told them to measure the oil pressure.
The bearings are now on their way from Rüsselsheim to the shop in Uppsala, Sweden.
Anybody with experiences from big-end bearing problems on 2,5 V6 (petrol)?
Bye for now from Thobbe

Hi,

that´s a really big bad luck. You repaired all the problems that an Omega may have, and then crash the car. I think there are many things you could have done instead of this 😁

Our experts for engines here in our forum are os62 and OhMega, they know how to repair things that others even dont´t know that they are existing. And especially, they often know the reason why these things get broken. So it might be a good idea to talk to these folks to solve your Problem.

Greetings

Hi,

you can upload a pic as an attachement to your comment. Write the comment, then go down to the switch-box "Durchsuchen". There you can select an pic, which can be lying on your local harddisk. Take care taht the pic ist not too large and is named *.gif, *.jpg or jpeg or *.png. Then press upload and finally "Antworten", that´s all. If the pic is too large, you will get an error message to try a smaller one.
If your pic is already published in the internet, you can write the http-adress in your comment to create a link to the pic.

how i can get the pic smaller?

Hi,

"Bild" --> "Grösse ändern" fertig!

...geht noch einfacher mit Irfanview. Kann man kostenlos aus dem Internet downloaden. Einfach "Bild...Größe...anpassen": Kleinste oder zweitkleinste Größe eingeben, passt immer.

ha...Dotti. Zwei xxxxx ein Gedanke 😉

Erster!! 😁

Ei häv schon mit "drehen-strecken" versucht, but s'goht not. Every mal noch too big.
Try nau mol des with IrrwahnView.

Thanks änd sorry for mei bäd inglisch.
