Opel Insignia A (G09)

Good evening,

Is it possible to retrofit rear camera to a facelift insignia fitted Navi900 intellilink?

Thank you

Hi,
Yes it´s possible. But a little bit Tricky 🙂

Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated. Do you know what is involved?

My 12 year old daughter is studying German at school. Maybe she can help me!??

Hi,

first and foremost, a translation to german is neither required nor necessary, i share gott in rot´s point of view here.

In case you want to equip your car with an original rear view camera, the process requires more work than using third party parts. The original camera sits in one license plate lamp housing and afaik gives a composite video signal in NTSC. In most cases supply voltage comes from the backup light, so, you´ll need
a) shielded wiring, capable of transmitting the signal, from the tailgate to the headunit (or HMI module in this case).
b) rewiring of the tailgate (supply voltage)
c) an HMI module that can read the video
d) reprogramming to show the menus that come with a rear view cam, the guiding-line overlay and that it does switch to the video input once the reverse gear is engaged. Your dealer might need a VCI code for that.

One question i can´t answer right now is if your HMI module is already equipped with a working input for the video signal.

Thank you Black TM, you were most helpful years ago when I needed advice on my Vectra C heated seats retrofit.

Thank you again, I suppose I need to know if the module is present within navi900

Best wishes,

Leeds Vectra.

Hi,

i needed to check that, but it seems any HMI module (which is always present with an IntelliLink 900) is equipped with a rear view camera input. But the camera needs supply power seperate from the backup light (not as stated above).

Thanks, so basically I need aftermarket camera to replace number plate lamp. Wiring to reverse lights, wiring to the dashboard to plug in the present HMI Module that is already fitted?

Best regards

I don´t know if any camera will do, but the requirements are quite low. Don´t overestimate the dealer´s ability to reprogram the HMI module, he will need a VCI code to reprogram it which he needs to request from the manufacturers support.

Better try to program before you start to modify the car. If the menu shows the new options and the screen switches to black when entering reverse gear with engine running you should be ready to install the new parts.

Obliged, thank you. ??

Do you have any part numbers for parts required? No EPC versions in the UK show facelift parts.

I hate asking the dealer, they are no help!

Thank you

wiring harness, fitted for rear view camera:
Hatchback/Notchback bumper wiring harness:
- 23126665 (w/ rvc, w/o cross traffic warning, w/o park assist, w/o VXR bumper)
- 23126666 (w/ rvc, w/o cross traffic warning, w/ park assist, w/o VXR bumper)
- 23126670 (w/ rvc, w/ cross traffic warning, w/ park assist, w/o VXR bumper)

Station Wagon tailgate wiring harness: 22838927 ( w/ rvc )

The rest of the wiring harness (body and cockpit) comes only specific for a vehicle and exchanging it is not worth the trouble, you´re better off to string new wires next to it.
