Anyone Have Experience with Injection Molded Engine Covers or Custom Fabrication?

Hi all,

I’ve been looking into engine covers lately and how they’re made—most of them seem to be injection molded using plastics like ABS or nylon. It’s pretty impressive how lightweight and durable they can be, but I’m curious how they hold up long term, especially with engine heat and vibration.

Has anyone here replaced their factory engine cover with something custom? Maybe done some custom plastic fabrication or 3D printing to get a better fit or design? I’m considering either modifying the stock part or making a new one from scratch.

Would love to hear what materials and methods worked best for you—whether it was injection molding, hand-fabbed, or some other approach.
