Its been cold and snowing this week and with the car on and the screen heating front and back on which sets the ac temp to high, the steering wheel heating also turned on.
I have steering heating linked to seat heating but at the time, seat heating was not on. I haven't found any other way to control the steering wheel heating but the above scenario makes me think it's also linked to outside temperature and AC settings.
