Versuchter Autokauf via craigslist in Texas - an paranoiden Wirrkopf geraten - lest die E-Mails!

Liebe Freunde,

ich wollte mir letzten Herbst ein Mitt-90er Lincoln Town Car kaufen (habe ich dann auch getan, aber nicht von diesem Knallkopf).

(Info: Es war ein recht hübscher 1995 Lincoln Town Car Cartier, aus 1.Hand, 66.000 miles, VB $3300)

Aber ich dachte mir, zur Erheiterung poste ich mal den E-Mail-Wechsel.

Also, es gibt ja viele nette Amerikaner, aber - wie in jedem Land - auch dort ein paar durchgeknallte

Wirrköpfe. Am besten ist der Hinweis auf seine Stasi-Kontakte

I like your car, but I do not like you. I would not buy it from you if it were the best Lincoln Town Car on the planet.

I think a minimum of respect is required for business. And you obviously do not respect me and I cannot respect you.

So here's your chance to prove me wrong and get the car.

Therefor cash is king. Allowing you to wire me money opens me up to someone making an unauthorized withdrawal. I'm aware of scams that wire money to a sellers account, then in less than a week the money is gone because it was a bogus transfer and the senders account didn't have funds, doesn't exist, or was sent from a hack victims account. How do you know I wouldn't take your money and run? That's another red flag in itself.

Save your breath, you will only get tired trying to convince me otherwise.

I have associates in Hamburg and Berlin by the way, a couple are ex-STASI, not to mention federal connections stateside, I can identify you before 6am GMT. Just because I'm from Texas doesn't mean I haven't worked overseas. I knew Europe best when it was East v West. Slipping in or out of the east above ground could easily get you killed pre-Gorbie.

If you are concerned if selling it abroad might be complicated: It is not. I have done that 5 times before.

 

Procedure would be as follows:

 

• You find the title

• You can it/fax it to me along with your banking information.

• I transfer the money to you (takes 2-4 days)

• A guy with a flatbed will show up and pick up car, title and keys. Again: This would be AFTER you have received the money.

• You will have nothing to do with the export procedure.

 

The only inconvenience for you would be that you have to be at home when the trucking guy comes to pick up the car.

OK, er hat ein wenig übertrieben, das finde ich jetzt aber nicht so schlimm. Amis haben halt ein lockeres Verhältnis zur deutschen Geschichte. Jedenfalls stößt ihm auf, dass du ihm diktieren willst, wie das Geschäft abzulaufen hat. Die Idee war nicht schlecht von Anfang an klar zu machen, wie einfach ein Überseegeschäft sein wird. Günstiger ist esn aber immer eine Zahlung nach Wahl vorzuschlagen: wire transfer, cash at pickup (manche Speditionen bieten das an), cheque, paypal, whatnot. Und dass er dir mitteilen soll, wenn 'payment has cleared' damit du die Abholung veranlassen kannst. Das bietet Sicherheit. Denk dran, dass gerade Craigslist die Anbieter permanent auf die Betrugsgefahr hinweist und ausschließlich zu lokalen Geschäften rät.

Ich empfehle übrigens Certified Cheques, das funktioniert prima und die hat bislang jeder akzeptiert. Dauert aber etwas und kostet Geld, und man muss die Zusage des Verkäufers haben, dass er solange wartet. Als Abhilfe sende ich dann eine Foto des Cheques rüber bevor er in die Post geht.

Konto Ueberweisungen von Privat an Privat sind hier in USA absolut unueblich. Ich habe auch schon mehrere Autos ueber Craigslist verkauft. Ausnahmslos entweder gegen Cash oder einen cashiers check einer ansaessigen Bank. Alles Andere akzeptiere ich nicht.
