Wireless CarPlay
Im aktuellen Konfigurator ist ja jetzt wireless CarPlay wieder enthalten:
"Die Verbindung mit einem aktuellen Apple iPhone (mindestens iOS 9, ab iPhone 5) kann auch kabellos erfolgen."
Da die Hoffnung zuletzt stirbt .... Können diejenigen, die den 8Y schon haben mal berichten, ob sich bei ihnen was tut ...
Ich werde nochmal bei Audi anfragen, ob, wann wireless auch in den schon ausgelieferten 8Y verfügbar sein kann/wird ...

Manchmal wünsche ich mir, ich hätte ein Android-Smartphone gekauft.
Ich sehe meinen Freunden immer neidisch dabei zu wenn sie versuchen es wieder zum laufen zu bekommen, nachdem es mal wieder abgestürzt ist. Mit einem iPhone passiert das nicht, das ist schon ziemlich langweilig. 🙂

I did Connect with wlan (doesn’t mention 5gHz tho) and Bluetooth. Still get the “connect with cable...
Do you need the data package from cubics fort this to work?

no, but you need a connection to the iPh which says WLAN-XXX-5 GHz ...

There is no WiFi named “...5-GHz WiFi” to connect to though.
Not based in Germany (Sweden) if it makes any difference.
To sum up my problem:
Recieved the ODB app from Steimieyesterday for my audi a3 8y with the ambition to activate Wireless Apple Carplay.
Step:0) Clearad the mmi from my iPhone and removed the car from the WiFi and Bluetooth in my iPhone.
1) Plugged the ODB adapter
2) Popped the hood (not pooped 😉)
3) Ran the sequence for wirless apple carplay
4) Restarted the car
=> No changes in MMI... the smartphone interface asks for usb cable and I cannot find the 5gHz WiFi.
I was able to install the dynamic tail-light, so I know I ran the sequence correctly.
Facts:
Sw: 3272
HW: H8Y0035043
Loacation: Sweden.
Any ideas?

I can now confirm it works. Ran the wrong sequence “unlock third device for MMI”. After running the “apple a3 8y Apple CarPlay wireless and 5gHz wlan activation” WCP works like a charm.
Ich war nun bei einem anderen Audi Händler und habe erneut die Antwort bekommen, dass das Navi Pflicht ist...
Es gibt auch eine Art Dongle bei Amazon geht das nicht auch anstatt dieses ODB Teil?

I dont have the navigation. Got WCP to work anyway. I believe that the respones from Audi is BS. I have got a different answers when asking Audi support and technicans (their response have been simple: WCP cannot be activated in retrospect).
The Amazon dongle might work. As far as I am aware no-one in this forum have showcased example using a dongle. I would rather spend the extra 50€ to activate the MMI- built WCP as I believe this is a more reliable solution in the long run.

Finger weg von den Dongles. Der größte Schrott überhaupt. Hab alle getestet, keiner ging!!
OBDApp und Abfahrt. Damit klappts 100%.
