Hi,

to remove the radio, you need a special tool. It´s a Couple of small Steelblades to unlock the two hooks (left and right)behind the Frontpanel of the radio.Best Way is you ask a Dealer for remove it(it´s cheaper then bying that). In my opinion are most of the surroundings only clip-on Frames.
What kind of plastic piece you mean? The cover for steering wheel?

Hi and thankyou,

The cover I mean is behind the steering wheel. I'll send 2 pictures of what I'd like to remove and maybe it will help you help me.

Best regards,
Nelson

The other part I'd like to remove isn't the radio itself but the plastic above, I believe that on one side the sclips aren't in place. I'm not sure that there are clips because I haven't yet been able to remove it. I wouldn't like to break it.

Nelson

Hi,

to picture one i´ve no idea, because i didn´t worked at that bevor.I´ll find out.I will inquire that.
Removing the streamers(picture two) is possible, but it´s just a little bit difficult. It is the same Procedure like in older models(if you have a mail adress, send me an PN and i will send you the instructions). They are in german language, but i will explain you it.First you have to drive(heating on)till that plastic part is warm(it helps you,to remove it without"killed cats😁" or broken parts). Then you take place between the frontseats.Push your fingers into the lowest row of the open streamers and pull it down until it unlocks at the top(for help you can use a plastic spatula at the top-such kind for bodywork repair)There are 3 plastic noses at the top(left middle, right).Try to unlock them with the spatula. That was the hardest part. Now you can turn the part to you(carefully)and pull it up until you can remove the plug.Sorry it was a little bit longer.I hope you didn´t fall asleep.

p.s.I´m standby here, because i have too kill a couple of beers now,if you have any questions.

Hi,

I don't have much except for the user manuals and even that I'm still waiting for the radio instructions. I will although and keep in mind and if and when you do get the instructions for the dissassembly of the golf V dash I'll be much obliged.

Best regards and thankyou,

Hi Nelson,i´ve got what you searching for.It was easy.I only had to kill some Watchmen of VW and open a Safe😁.Joking apart, forget the older version. In your car the main streamer is additional fixed with one or two hidden screws, dependent by the equipment(with or without Climatronic)see picture. For that special tool, which is called 3409 you can use a normal ballpoint pen(plastic of course)or comparable. If you have climatronic, there is only one screw below the sun-sensor at the top(don´t forget to unplug the cable). If you have no climatronic there are two screws below the rubber mat.Now comes that part, which i´ve written bevor(driving, heating, removing 3 noses above and two below)that´s it.The rest of the surroundings is only clipped. For removing the radio you´ll get a message soon.

Ricsneak

Hi again, I must thankyou for your interest in helping me. I have the one without climatronic, the one with the rubber mat. It has 2 screws but I don't know after how to remove the rest. Dows the top come off or is it a whole piece. Do you have any pictures like the one you sent me of thew version? I think my wait is coming to an end and if I'm write my local dealer and the importer are certainly gonna hear from me.

Best regards and a big appreciation,

Nelson Sabino

Sorry but the forum was offline for a long(too much)time.I was unable to send the picture.I hope you´ll get it now.------ No it´s not possible.I´ve cut it to 80 kb but i cannot send it(shit). You´ll got a mail.

RicSneak

Hi, you can send it by e-mail I'd even prefer it that way. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou very much. I only hope hat I can be helpful some day like you have been to me.

Regards, Nelson

Now the picture is on the right way.Let me answer to your last questions.Yes,if it is warm you can get it out easy and yes it´s only one piece. You´ll see it,when the picture is yours.

Thanx man once again, I still don't know how to thankyou. I'm gonna try this weekend to take it out. It's too dark when I leave work and I want to work on this calmly. Any suggestions for releasing the clips that secure the part in place. I start to see that I'm right about it not being correctly fitted. You've been a great help, soncerely,

Nelson Sabino

You have the right attitude.Don´t work at a hectic pace, work on it calmly. To release the clips,i´ve no better idea then i wrote above.

Now to your problem with the radio. You absolutely need the special tools to remove it.They look similar to them at the picture, but the top ist different. It looks like the mouth of Hammerhead(i know, the comparison is misleading a bit,but it´s the nearest shape)Don´t try it with Screwdrivers or something like that, you will scratch the surface of the radio and that´s not what was originally intended.

Regards
